Harp Instruction and Performance Program

The Harp Instruction and Performance Program (HIPP) is an after-school program for elementary to middle school age students. Students enrolled in the program receive private and group instruction on harp by certified teachers and seasoned professionals. The program allows students to begin their journey on the harp as they develop their musicianship.
HIPP meets on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the Harp Studio at Cass Technical High School in Detroit. Participants in the program receive instructional materials after the completion of an interview with the program instructors. Prospective students along with their parents or guardians are required to interview with the program instructors prior to acceptance into the program. The interview includes a brief music assessment and discussion about program requirements listed below.
Due to limited space, the program requires an application and an interview. A list of preferred and required skills is also listed below:
Required Skills:
Basic Note Reading and Pitch Identification

Preferred Skills:

Prospective students are also required to submit an application and recommendation form before an interview is scheduled.
